2013 State Highlights
2A/1A Hightlights  SODA GIRLS SCORE A PERFECT 15!!!!!!  This has only happened once before in the History of Idaho
Cross Country.  Jerome boys did it in 1974 as part of their 10 year streak.  Soda girls also continued their streak, now 8 in a
row.  Not to be outdone the Soda boys also dominated the field 35 points.  Melba girls and CDA Charter boys were second.
Kelsey Yamauchi led the Soda sweep running 19:37, and Leif Fredericks CDA-Charter wins boys race in 17:00.

3A Hightlights Sugar-Salem Girls win their second State title led by two-time champ Olivia Redd (19:22) scoring 40 to
runner-up Shelley 59.  Sophomore Austin Stewart led his Shelley team to their first ever Cross Country State Title.  His winning
time of 16:35 was 30 seconds faster than runner-up Luke Brogan (Bear Lake).

4A Hightlights The girls team battle turned out to be just as thought with a battle among the top teams with no dominate team.
No team scored under 100 points as Sandpoint beat Preston by 1 point, 101-102.  Caitlin Elgan of Preston took over the lead
as Rachel Cannon (Blackfoot) fell down and won in 19:29.  Pocatello Boys and Elijah Armstrong win their 3rd straight titles in a
dominate way scoring 29 to runner-up Bishop Kelly 106.  Elijah runs the fastest time of the day cruising to a 15:41, with Sam
Levora second 16:20.

5A Highlights  Senior Sam McKinnon Mountain View runs the fastest girls time of the day with a dominate 18:26.  Runner-up
Mikayla Malaspina of Vallivue runs 19:05 she has now been 2nd, 3rd, 2nd in her 3 year career.  The 2012 NXN Regional
Champs Couer D'Alene wins in a scare with 60 points.  They had 4 in the top 8, but J. Brown has an off day and finished 47th as
their 5th runner.  This made it appear the door was left open for an upset, but no other team could match the upfront strength of
CDA.  Boise was closest scoring 90.  On the boys side a small upset put Capital Boys ahead of pre-meet favorite Moutain View
57-64. Andrew Rafla of Timberline was the only other boy to go under 16:00 running 15:54 to defeat defending champ Dwain
Stucker (Meridian) 16:18.
